Dr. Steven L. Heffner has been a Board Certified Chiropractic Physician licensed
in the state of Pennsylvania for 22 years. He finished his diplomate training
in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) in 1997. Dr. Heffner is the director
of spinal rehabilitation and work hardening at the Laurel Health System in
Wellsboro,
PA. He is a contributing author concerning MDT of the spine in four separate
spinal rehabilitation clinical textbooks. He has served on the MIUSA Board
of Directors for several years and part of its Executive Committee.

Julie graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 1989 with a Bachelors
of Science and received a Master's of Physical Therapy from the University of
Delaware in 1991. She attained the Diploma in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy
in 1996 and became part of the teaching faculty in 1999. Julie currently resides
in Wilmington, Delaware and has a spine practice at the Spine & Orthopedics
Specialists in Newark, Delaware. Julie is currently serving on the MIUSA Board
as Vice Chair.

Bob is a management consultant specializing in organization development,
human resources, change management and strategy implementation. He helps
clients achieve great results by improving performance and return on people.
He has
16 years senior executive experience in manufacturing, broadband-high speed
internet and financial services organizations. Bob has over 12 years consulting
experience. His clients have included organizations such as Mutual of Omaha,
Wm. Wrigley & Co., Wilson Sporting Goods, Paychex, Adelphia Communications,
American Hospital Association, Midas Muffler, Pet Foods, Excellus Blue Cross,
Sentry Safes, Rochester-Genesee Regional Transportation Authority, Rochester

Ronald Schenk, PT, PhD, Cert.MDT - Secretary

Ron Schenk PT, PhD, OCS, FAAOMPT, Cert. MDT is an Associate Professor
of Physical Therapy at Daemen College in Amherst, NY where he teaches musculoskeletal
physical therapy in their Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Dr. Schenk completed
a residency program in orthopaedic manual physical therapy through the Gulf
Coast Graduate Physical Therapy Institute and earned his PhD in Education from
the University at Buffalo. He is credentialed in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy
from the McKenzie Institute (Cert. MDT). Dr. Schenk is currently serving on
the MIUSA Board as Secretary.
Stacey A. Lyon

Stacey joined The McKenzie Institute in 1995 as Administrator of the
US Branch. A graduate of Allegheny College (PA) with a Bachelor of Arts in
Theatre, Stacey also minored in Psychology and Sociology. This combination
of study provided a diverse foundation of knowledge to apply to her 25 years
of varied business experience, primarily in social and medical service organizations.
She was formally elected to the Board of Directors in 1998.
Thomas Masten, MD, Cert.MDT

Dr. Masten completed his Family Medicine Residency at the University
Hospitals of Cleveland in 1983. He became a Fellow of the Society of Orthopaedic
Medicine in 1993 with teaching credentials. He became Credentialed in Mechanical
Diagnosis and Therapy in 1994. He completed his Certificate of Added Qualification
in Sports Medicine through the American Board of Family Medicine in 1997.
With special training in precision spine injection techniques, he practiced
a decade
with the Orthopedic Spine Institute becoming an Associate Professor at Upstate
and is now with the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Dept. at Upstate
Medical University in Syracuse, NY.
Robert Medcalf, PT, Dip.MDT

Robert is a graduate of the Georgia State University Physical Therapy
program. After advanced studies in New Zealand with The McKenzie Institute,
USA in 1991
he was granted the Institute International Diploma in Mechanical Diagnosis
and Therapy of the Spine and was subsequently named to the teaching faculty
of MII. In addition to teaching numerous MDT courses throughout
the United States and internationally he has participated in published research
studies on low back pain and cervical
pain responses to mechanical interventions and the diagnositc accurracy of
McKenzie's mechanical assessment. Robert also serves on
the MI International Advisory Council, a global committee of Institute faculty
who review and advise the
Board of Trustees on educational and policy matters.
Hugh Murray, PT, Dip.MDT

Hugh Murray received his degree in Physical Therapy from West Virginia University
in 1976 and attended the Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency at Kaiser Permanente
Medical Center in Hayward, California in 1979. He received the Diploma in Mechanical
Diagnosis and Therapy from the McKenzie Institute International in 1991 through
the residencey program in New Zealand. Currently, Hugh hides out at CPT Physical
Therapy Specialists, a McKenzie Certified Clinic, in Charleston. Hugh was a Board
member and teaching faculty member of the Institute early in its founding years,
having returned to faculty in 2004. He has served on the Nominating
and Finance Committees of the MIUSA Board and is a past Chairman of the MIUSA
Board.
Erik van Doorne, DPT, Cert.MDT

Dr. Erik van Doorne, PT, DPT, COMT, Cert. MDT, FABS graduated from
the Hanzehogeschool in the Netherlands with a Bachelors of Science in Physiotherapy
and received a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Simmons College in Boston.
Dr. van Doorne has a certificate in orthopedic manual therapy and is credentialed
in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy from the McKenzie Institute. He is active
in the American Physical Therapy Assocation (APTA), represents the APTA before
the American Medical Assocation's HCPAC Relative Value Scale Update (RUC) Committee,
is a senior editor of SpineUniverse as well as a nationally recognized speaker.
Dr. van Doorne is the owner and president of a private spine practice in Wilmington,
DE.
